You control your bowel-health information. Use this page to ask us to permanently delete your BowelAware account and diary data. Your request is handled under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
Delete it yourself, instantly
If you can sign in, the fastest option is to delete everything yourself from Privacy & my data. That removes your diary entries, photos, family and screening history immediately. Use the form below if you cannot sign in, or if you also want your account closed.
What gets deleted
- All diary entries, symptoms, Bristol observations, pain scores and notes
- Every private photo you uploaded, removed from secure storage
- Family history, screening history and reminder settings
- GP summary history and any active share links (they stop working immediately)
- Your profile and, if requested, your sign-in account
What we may need to keep
We retain a minimal, de-identified record that a deletion request was made and completed so we can demonstrate compliance, plus anonymous aggregate counts that contain no personal or health information. We may also keep information where an Australian law requires it.

Encrypted backups may retain a copy for up to a further 30 days before they are overwritten in the normal backup cycle. Backups are not used for any other purpose.

Verification and complaints
To protect your health information, we verify every request by emailing the address on the account before deleting anything. If you are unhappy with how we handle your request, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or 1300 363 992.
